Late Gothic Standing Cupboard

An excellent late Gothic Standing Cupboard with bold linenfold panels to the whole carcase; a stylised roseate frieze below the cornice above two linenfold doors and a central panel, two central drawers above a single wide door below flanked by two vertical linenfold panels raised on decorated stile feet; minor restorations, mature colour and good patina, measuring:

James I Oak Court Cupboard

Most handsome James I Oak Court Cupboard with a superbly carved upper frieze above a pair of excellent gadrooned cup and cover supports and a pair of doors with lozenge carved rose centres, separated by a central panel, deeply recessed with a large roseate centre. Moulded candleshelf above a thumb gouged frieze and two lower cupboard doors each with four panels repeating the lozenge and rose motifs. Replaced hinges and minor repairs, good colour and patina.

Late Renaissance three-tier Oak Cupboard

A fine late Renaissance three-tier Oak Cupboard of rare form and exceptional quality with four caryatid figures flanking the two upper doors and central 'secret' panel which conceals three drawers and a pair of beautifully carved three-dimensional supports to the candleshelf above a pair of deep carved drawers and three further figures of Faith, Hope – Charity, separating the two fall-flaps carved with Neptune, Isis and sea nymphs; two large cupboard doors below again separated by three caryatid figures; minor restorations, mature colour and excellent patina, this impressive piece measures:

Rare 15th Century Northern Spanish primitive Gothic Livery Cupboard

the carcase of riven Oak and Chestnut boards of simple clamp construction, the very considerable shrinkage has necessitated the insertion of later boards to maintain the cupboard's stability and function; copious amounts of original deep red polychrome of the type found particularly in the area of Arevalo between Valladolid and Avila are in evidence. The two doors each with a pair of typical provincial pierced Gothic arches with nails behind to fix the hessian covering. Mature colour and patina.

An important late Gothic/ early Renaissance

clearly showing the stylistic transition between the periods. The form of construction and linenfold side panels being typical Gothic features while the carving on the front panels is influenced by renaissance motifs and designs which were becoming more fashionable and originated from Italy through France. Other features being three small protruding 'Romayne Heads' on the top panels, elegant foliate carved baluster legs and multiple mouldings applied to the stiles and rails. With minor restorations and with good colour and patination.

Most rare 16th Century Oak and Spruce Court Cupboard in two parts

the lower section with a pair of triple-panel carved and moulded doors between a pair of well turned multi-ring baluster turned uprights rising from an out-projecting breakfront plinth; the top section of similar design with a pair of smaller doors above the candleshelf separated by a moulded panel with a bold Bishop’s Tassle and a winged angel below a sunburst halo and cross; the moulded canopy top with a heavily moulded upright backboard; the sides with moulded panels; original solid Bronze handles; minor restorations, good colour and patina. The construction has very British characteristics and the decoration is very strongly French influenced: possibly Scottish. Circa 1550.

Most rare late 16th Century English Canopied Oak Cupboard.

The angled canopy with moulded and arcaded frieze and with twin-panelled back, above a plank top and a central recessed panelled door between moulded panels and flanked by projecting ring-turned columns, with an open compartment below similarly flanked by ring-turned columns running through to block feet, the sides panelled and channel-moulded. With a wonderful rich, mature colour and fine patina.

18th Century North Wales Oak Press Cupboard

A fine and most useful mid 18th Century North Wales Oak Press Cupboard with moulded cornice above a pair of doors, each having a large arched moulded panel with two small square panels below, opening to reveal a good hanging space which disappears behind the two blind fielded panel drawer fronts below and having three shallow working drawers at the bottom; with replaced brasswork and a fine rich colour and patina.

18th Century Welsh Oak Deuddarn

A good early 18th Century Welsh Oak Deuddarn with a pair of corner drop finials attached to an overhanging moulded cornice above the upper section having a pair of cupboard doors each having a central carved panel with circles and arcs flanking a pair of drawers with a further pair of half drawers above; below the shallow candleshelf are 2 large cupboard doors, each having two fielded panels, which open to reveal a shelved interior. With some minor restorations, but having probably-original hinges this most useful cupboard has a fine colour and patina.

17th Century Flemish Oak 3-section Cupboard

A good 17th Century Flemish Oak 3-section Cupboard with a moulded cornice incorporating miniscule thumb gouge carving. The top section with two moulded, single-panel doors separated by a fluted central pillar above a similarly-moulded, two-panel fall-front revealing the central cupboard. The bottom larger and similarly-moulded doors, which are above a multi-moulded plinth, are separated by a fluted pillar which corresponds with the outer full-height stiles and the sides are six panelled. With minor restorations and replaced bun feet, this utilitarian cupboard has a fine mellow colour and patina.

18th Century North Wales Oak

An excellent and quite rare mid-to-late 18th Century North Wales Oak enclosed 2-part Cupboard having a protruding moulded cornice above three cupboard doors with stylised arch panels (the outer ones being locked from the centre one) and three drawers to the upper section – the right-hand cupboard door opening to reveal an assortment of spice drawers and three secret drawers. The bottom section has three similar drawers above a pair of large cupboard doors each having three raised and fielded panels below an unusual but original fretted panel to allow ventilation for food storeage; the fixed central panel has a pair of matching panels and a further fretted ventilation panel. Both top and bottom sections are flanked by reeded architectonic columns and the carcase stands on bracket feet. This wonderful cupboard – of museum quality – is a most utilitarian piece and has a fabulous colour and patina.

A very fine late Renaissance Dutch Oak 2-part Cupboard with a pair of excellently carved linenfold doors and a central caryatid-figure dividing stile below a multi-moulded and protruding cornice to the upper section; the larger bottom section has a pair of similar doors but with the central caryatid figures being a part of the right-hand door and the protrucing, multi-moulded plinth stands between a pair of corner carved lions; having some restorations and with a delightful colour and patina. Circa 1600.
